We offer stud services to interested breeders. Both dogs must have current CHIC numbers and follow the AWPGA's Breeders' Best Practices. Please take a look at our Binding Stud Contract for all requirements.

One thing that makes Black Watch Griffons unique among the rest is the gun dog training we provide to client dogs and our puppies from our litters. Our training starts at a young age, and allows the dog to develop a controlled drive in the field, making them a reliable hunter. By doing this, we train at the AKC Senior and Master Hunter level. Hunting Tests for Pointing Breeds were developed so people would have an opportunity to demonstrate a dogs ability to perform under actual hunting conditions. Judges should evaluate a dog's natural abilities as well as those traits obtained through training. They also provide their owner a place to run and compete during the off-hunting season. In other words, the training and obedience we provide makes for a well-rounded hunting dog and companion. Since we are a smaller operation, we schedule out at least a year in advance for training services. It is strongly encouraged that the owner be involved throughout the entire stay. For the past two years Russell and Arya have guided over 70 planted bird hunts for clients who have travelled as far as California. Newly added to the guide dog pack is our Black Watch Queen of the Hebrides SH MH, Islay. We have returning clients that specifically ask for our dogs each time. Most of our guides have been held at Oak Ridge Sportsman's Club, located west of Bloomington, Illinois, but service to other preserves around Central Illinois. We are always looking for new land to work our dogs and open to traveling.

Obedience starts young and we know it can be a lot to handle at times. We will send short videos and tutorials on how to get through the various puppy stages and your preparation for field work. If you are wanting to prepare your puppy for the next hunt season, there are many things you can be doing inside the home to ensure they are ready for the field work. We also stress that you do a fair amount of research on the breed before considering a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. Their energy level and drive are not for everyone.
